Michelle Armitage (CA)

~ BMDCC Specialty Obedience Judge ~

bullet

Ms. Armitage started training dogs when she was 12 years old.  Michelle trained the neighbours' dogs while helping them out with dog walking. One owner was kind enough to take her to weekly dog obedience classes.  Michelle was bitten by the obedience bug and has been ever since.

She has trained a Viszla, Labrador and Dalmatian to their CD, each of these dogs before she was 18 years old and each dog was owned by a different person.  She learned a lot training different breeds. After a short break, she returned to the dog world and trained her own dogs, a Beagle “Baxter” to one leg shy of his Canadian OTCH (which was awarded at the spry age of 13) and an English Springer Spaniel “Kelly” to her Canadian OTCH. Kelly achieved High in Trial awards and first class placements during her obedience career.  Baxter kept Michelle in the ring for many years and taught her patience and also joy and pride in all his efforts.  Her new dog "Bob", another English Springer Spaniel, earned his CD in the Spring of 2002 and passed the Water Test for English Springer Spaniels this past Summer.  They are working on CDX and hope to be back in the obedience ring in the Spring of 2003.
