Christine Mann
Christine Mann saw her first Bernese Mountain Dog in 1974 but it was not
until the late 80’s that she was able to have one of her own. CH Alpine
Joy’s Deerpark Sgt Harpo CD DD HIC TT CGC revealed the wonderful world of
Bernese to Christine while becoming one of the first BMDCA Versatility
Dogs. These many years later, she successfully trains and handles her own
dogs in conformation, draft, obedience and therapy work. She had trained
eight BMDCA Versatility Dogs and five Delta Society Animal Assisted Pet
Partners. Breeding only occasionally, Christine has bred seventeen litters
of Bernese Mountain Dogs under the kennel name of Blue Moon.
Christine has been a member of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America
and the BMD Club of the Rockies since 1990 and has been an approved BMDCA
Draft Judge since 1993. She served as the BMDCA Draft Chair for four years
and currently is a member of the BMDCA Judges Education Committee and a
Delta Society Team Evaluator In 2005 Christine was nominated and honored
by her fellow breeders to judge the BMDCA Futurity. In 2006, she was
honored by the entire BMDCA membership to judge the BMDCA Puppy and
Veteran Sweepstakes. In addition she has judged Sieger Shows and Regional
Sweepstakes in California, Wisconsin, Idaho, and Arizona.
Because Christine competes in conformation, obedience, and draft she
appreciates the importance that a Bernese exhibits a combination of
intelligence and the physical ability to pull a cart. As a therapy dog
handler, she understands the need for a solid temperament.
With their two children grown, Christine shares her Colorado mountain life
with Michael, husband (and soul mate) of thirty five years, and five very
special Bernese Mountain Dogs who range in age from over eleven years to
less than two years old--Brigette, Houston, Meco, True and Rita--that
share their hearts and their beds…they would not have it any other way!
